Czech Republic - The supplier recently started making seats at its new plant in Chomutov, which is located in north west of the country. It is being used to provide seating in various configurations for a number of BMW models.

"This is a big win for our employees as well as our community, where we are making a positive economic impact," commented Martin Polívka, general manager of the plant. "Our facility is using the latest technology with special attention given to high flexibility so that we can react quickly to new developments and changing requirements of our customers."

The facility covers an area of 6,000 sq.m and has an output of over 360,000 units per year. Magna now has 16 manufacturing locations in Europe, five of which are in Czech Republic.

The country is currently a hotbed for vehicle manufacturing, with companies like Skoda witnessing rising demand for its models. Other suppliers, such as International Automotive Components (IAC), are also looking to take advantage of the growing automotive industry in the area.

As well as Europe and Czech Republic, Magna has also been focusing on China, where it recently announced it was working with Beijing Hainachuan Automotive Parts (BHAP) to build a new production facility in Beijing that will be used to create doors for a German OEM. Magna is also helping BAIC create a new smart electric vehicle (EV) architecture.
