JLR is expanding its UK workforce with 150 new maintenance roles to support EV production. With Solihull and Wolverhampton at the heart of its transformation, the company is investing in people, technology and electrification.
JLR is strengthening its UK manufacturing workforce as it accelerates the transition to electric vehicles. The company is recruiting 150 maintenance technicians across its Solihull and Wolverhampton facilities to support the production of Range Rover Electric and next-generation battery and drive unit assembly. The expansion forms part of JLR’s Reimagine strategy, which commits to launching fully electric versions of all its brands by 2030 and achieving carbon net zero across its supply chain, products and operations by 2039.
Of the new hires, 50 positions will be based at JLR’s Solihull plant, where Range Rover Electric production is set to begin later this year. Technicians will be responsible for maintaining advanced automated systems, including robotics, laser joining technology and precision welding equipment.
The remaining 100 roles will be located at JLR’s Electric Propulsion Manufacturing Centre (EMPC) in Wolverhampton, a critical site in the company’s industrial footprint. These technicians will oversee the upkeep of state-of-the-art machinery used in battery pack assembly and the production of Electric Drive Units (EDUs), integral components for JLR’s upcoming electric models.
