India – The technology and services supplier will enhance existing manufacturing sites plus research and development facilities.
Bosch has recently expanded its manufacturing facility for automotive components in Chennai, where it is also constructing a new Bosch and Siemens Hausgeräte plant, and by 2015 a diesel plant will have been transferred from Adugodi to a larger site in Bidadi around 30km away. Adugodi will be used for research and development, plus administration.
Meanwhile, Bosch’s new Research and Technology Center (RTC) Bangalore will focus on the development of connected technologies, the efficient design of software-intensive systems and image processing. The company says that one example of the effectiveness of localised development is the two-wheeler engine management system it has produced for the Indian market.
“India will continue to play a key role for the Bosch Group, even if the next few years will present a few challenges given the recent drop in automotive sales in the country,” commented Peter Tyroller, Bosch management board member for Asia Pacific.
