Germany – Currently speaker for the brand board of management of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, Eckhard Scholz has been appointed chairman of the board for the CV division. Joachim Rothenpieler has been named board member for Technical Development.

Scholz joined the VW Group in 1991, and held various management positions in Technical Development in Wolfsburg, Germany, between 1996 and 2007. He was most recently head of car body development. In 2007, Scholz was appointed to the board of directors for Skoda, with responsibility for Technical Development. He has been speaker of the brand board of management and board member for Technical Development since 2012.

Having joined the Group in 1986, Rothenpieler has held senior management positions in vehicle and powertrain development at Skoda, Bentley and Volkswagen Passenger Cars since 1994. He became head of quality assurance at VW in 2007, and three years later was appointed board of management spokesman and managing director for engineering at Volkswagen Sachsen, Germany.

The appointments become effective on July 1, 2014.
