US – The Engineering Specialist Training programme will be a concentrated 18-month course targeted at candidates who have already earned a Bachelor’s degree. The focus will be hands-on experience of mechatronics; there will also be a three-month posting at the VW headquarters in Wolfsburg, Germany.
“Volkswagen Chattanooga put this programme in place to play an active part in developing the skilled workforce here in Hamilton County,” said Christian Koch, president and CEO of Volkswagen Chattanooga.
Sebastian Patta, EVP Human Resources, added: “Through these programmes, Volkswagen Chattanooga is thinking globally and acting locally.”
The additional training was announced on the graduation day of the second class to complete the Volkswagen Academy’s three-year Automation Mechatronics Program (AMP). The AMP is conducted at a 163,000 sq.ft facility in collaboration with Chattanooga State Community College.
