Czech Republic: Skoda is the largest manufacturing company in Central Europe for the third consecutive year, according to the Deloitte CE Top 500 report.
Using fi gures from 2012, the study compared the 500 highest-revenue companies across 18 countries, including 84 from the Czech Republic.
The company has a 2018 growth strategy to increase global sales to at least 1.5m each year, backed by a model campaign which includes eight new or completely revised models this year.
Skoda is investing heavily in its home market in order to develop its position in Europe, but is also expanding in the emerging markets of China and India. In 2012, the company’s fi xed asset investments increased by around 45% to €832m, the majority in the Czech Republic.
The main production plant in Mladá Boleslav has been extensively modernised and expanded, while the nearby technology and development centre at Česana is currently being extended. Around €34m has been invested in the construction of a new powertrain centre.
