Czech Republic – Between August 4-15, preparations will take place at Mladá Boleslav for the production launch of the new Skoda Fabia at the end of the month. The OEM says that “extensive” maintenance and modernisation projects will also be carried out at Kvasiny and Vrchlabí.
At Mladá Boleslav, Skoda will establish a new facility in the M1 assembly hall for the adjustment of assistance systems. The M1 conveyor system will also be renewed at the final control point of the assembly line. On the Octavia production line in Hall M13, the speed of the conveyor will be increased and the facility for filling the brake systems will be modernised. The paintshop will also be modernised, and its capacity expanded.
At Kvasiny, Skoda will focus on completing a new hall for car body production, while at Vrchlabí maintenance work will be performed to improve production of the DQ 200 gearbox.
Michael Oeljeklaus, Skoda board member for Production and Logistics, said: “Above all, we shall be preparing Mladá Boleslav for the launch of the next Fabia generation. We are right on schedule to start the production of our newest model on time and to the highest quality.”
Following its model changeovers last year, Skoda says full production capacity is now available, and that in June it made a record number of vehicles for a single month: 98,000 worldwide.
