Russia – The model is now being produced at the VW plant in the south west of the country ahead of market launch in April.
“Through starting production in Kaluga, the Rapid has been launched in our third-strongest market worldwide,” noted Winfried Vahland, CEO of Skoda Auto, adding that the company “plans to grow substantially in Russia over the coming years”. Skoda delivered 87,500 vehicles to Russian customers in 2013.
The Rapid is the second production launch for Skoda in the course of a few weeks; the OEM began making the revised Yeti at Nizhny Novgorod in mid-February.
