Uzbekistan – The new partnership, known as Uzbekistan PCA, will construct a plant in the Free Industrial Zone of Jizzakh to make light commercial vehicles (LCV) for the Peugeot and Citroen brands. The production capacity will be 16,000 vehicles per year, for distribution in Uzbekistan and abroad from 2019.
“This LCV segment was the only non-occupied segment in Uzbekistan,” commented Yusupov Rustam, deputy chairman of the board, SC Uzavtosanoat. “So this project is a significant qualitative leap in the development of the domestic automotive industry.”
Christophe Bergerand, PSA Group’s Eurasia vice-president, said the venture was “fully in line with our ‘Push to Pass’ plan” and “a great opportunity for Groupe PSA to develop our LCV business and profitable growth plan in the region”.
PSA Group will contribute technologies, intellectual property, training and the implementation of production processes, so that the new factory operates according to the French company's standards in production, quality, purchasing, supply and sales. It is planned that parts localisation for the first year of production will be at least 50%, using 30 large factories owned by SC Uzavtosanoat plus 160 small and medium enterprises.
The charter capital of the new venture amounts to around €30m ($33.2m), with equal shareholding. Global investments represent approximately €130m.
