BASF has launched its Tinuvin Carboprotect light stabilizer product, designed to protect carbon fibre reinforced plastics (CFRP). Using Tinuvin Carboprotect makes it possible to display the embedded carbon fibre material pattern, as the product blocks the destructive radiation from UV and near-UV visible light, keeping the matrix intact. This allows customers, besides benefiting from the excellent mechanical properties, to also utilize the high aesthetical value of CFRP for design purposes.
Tinuvin Carboprotect is a solid UV Absorber developed for solventborne coatings. Based on a red-shifted hydroxyl-phenyl-benzotriazole chromophore, it is suited for coatings and substrates requiring strong protection both in UV A-range and in the near visible.
