Expanding its range of safety products, SICK claims its deTec2 Core type 2 light curtain offers protective field heights in increments from 300mm to 2100mm and a choice of finger and hand (14mm) or hand and person (30mm) resolution providing protection against operator intervention in accordance with EN ISO 13855 up to 10 metres. In addition, it complies with performance level ‘c’ (EN ISO 13849), Type 2 (IEC61496) and SIL 1 (IEC61508).
As the sensor works only in protective mode, configuration and range adjustment is automatic, requiring no additional set-up. The company says it can be installed quickly and through the space saving design safety distances can be minimised to achieve best-possible machine integration as well as higher operator productivity.
