Pepperl+Fuchs has introduced its VDM28 distance measurement sensors with Pulse Ranging Technology (PRT). These sensors provide measurements at distances ranging from 200mm up to 8,000mm, with repeatable accuracy of less than 5mm, a resolution of 1mm and response times as fast as 10ms. According to P+F, PRT is an advanced method of distance measurement that provides more precise results than phase correlation and time-of-fl ight techniques, irrespective of target surface or colour, or high ambient light. Measuring 88mm x 26mm x 54mm, VDM28 distance measurement sensors use a visible red laser source to emit light pulses up to 250,000 times per second. The sensors also offer a simple one-touch ‘teach’ process, while also being immune to cross-talk. Temperature operation ranges from –30°C (-22°F) up to 50°C (122°F). The sensors operate at 10-30 VDC, with a maximum load current of 100 mA, and feature two 4-in-1 discrete outputs. - www.pepperl-fuchs.com
