Toyota takes financial ownership of the TPCA joint-venture operations in Czech Republic, maintaining current production for both companies
The Kolin plant will now come under the new name of Toyota Motor Manufacturing Czech Republic and will be known as TMMCZ. The Kolin plant will continue to produce the A-segment models Aygo, Peugeot 108 and Citroën C1 for both Toyota and PSA. Toyota says it has invested more than €150m in capacity expansion and modernisation of the production plant. This investment has enabled the introduction of the OEM’s New Global Architecture (TNGA) allowing the plant to start manufacturing the new Toyota Yaris, including hybrid technology in the second half of 2021. The TNGA architecture system is now installed across all European factories.
