US - The OEM has been making vehicles at its plant in Canton, Mississippi for 15 years. Covering an area of 4.7m sq.ft, it has an annual output capacity of 450,000 units, and currently houses the production of the Altima, Titan, NV, Frontier and Murano.
The plant recently churned out its four millionth vehicle, and to mark the occasion, Nissan said that a second shift would be added for NV production. However, the company has recorded negative sales results in the US during May 2018, with a 4% decrease when compared to the same month in 2017. Furthermore, production of Nissan vehicles in the US during the first quarter of 2018 dropped 12%.
The Canton plant is one of four Nissan manufacturing facilities in the US. These have a combined output of 1m vehicles and 1.4m engines per year.
