Japan – The OEM made the changes to strengthen its operations in Japan, China and Mexico, in the process appointing the first female country head in the history of the company. Mayra Gonzalez will lead Nissan in Mexico.
Airton Cousseau will move from his current role as president, Nissan Mexicana, to become vice-president of Dongfeng Motor Company as well as managing director, Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Company, subject to approval by the board of directors. He will report to Jun Seki, president of Dongfeng Motor. Cousseau’s experience ranges across import and export sales and marketing finance, dealer network development and aftersales.
The current vice-president of Dongfeng Motor, Susumu Uchikoshi, will return to Nissan’s global headquarters to take the newly created role of regional senior vice-president, Japan Marketing and Sales.
Mayra Gonzalez, who will become president of Nissan Mexicana, is currently regional vice-president, Sales and Marketing. Her experience encompasses customer quality, sales, and dealer network development in the Americas.
The appointments will become effective from July 1.
