Nissan Aguascalientes

Mexico – The powertrain plant hit the milestone today, thirty-two years after the start of operations. The 10 millionth unit, to be fitted in a Nissan Versa for the US market, was an HR16 with XTronic transmission and an output of 109hp at 6,000rpm.

Aguascalientes Powertrain Plant currently makes seven types of engines on four production lines, turning out 217 units per hour, or one every 16 seconds. The engines are distributed to Nissan plants on-site (A1 and A2) plus CIVAC in Cuernavaca, as well as other facilities worldwide. They are integrated into the Sentra, Versa, March, NOTE, Tiida, Tsuru, NP300, NV300 and Livina.

Currently, the engine plant is preparing two additional lines for the production of two new engines, including a hybrid version for the US. This year, output will be 834,000 units for the local market.
