India – The pioneering work at the engine factory was carried out by the Engineering Procurement and Construction arm of the Group, Mahindra EPC. According to the company, its first diesel generator and solar photovoltaic (DG-PV) hybrid system boasts India’s highest solar-to-diesel capacity ratio, at over 80%.

The DG-PV hybrid comprises a 66kW solar plant connected to an 82.5kVA diesel generator using MACXTM, an advanced controller unit developed by Mahindra EPC. The unit maximises solar utilisation while securing power stability and a reduction in diesel consumption. The plant is monitored and controlled remotely via a Mahindra Machine Pulse solar PV solution.

“At the Igatpuri plant, we aim to promote the use of renewable energy and thereby lower our carbon footprint and this installation by Mahindra EPC is a step towards achieving this goal,” said Laxmiprasad Jahagirdar, general manager, Manufacturing, Igatpuri. He added: “The plant has been running successfully since it was commissioned on January 1 of this year.”
