Liebherr claims that its ChamferCut technology removes the need for additional machining following chamfering. The company says that as the exact chamfer shape is generated during chamfering, there is no effect on the material structure. An optimal starting point is created for the downstream hard gear finishing, through grinding or in particular honing.
It’s claimed the advantages for the customer during the chamfering process include fast retooling and simple adaptation in the case of varying flank modifications. Simple adjustments or corrections are also possible via the CNC axes. The following machine types are equipped with the integrated ChamferCut unit: gear hobbing machines LC 180 DC and LC 300 DC; chamfering machines LD 180 C and LD 300 C.
