US – The OEM’s plant at West Point, Georgia, turned out a 2016 Sorento SXL as its two-millionth unit, slightly over six years after the start of mass production. Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia (KMMG) now makes over 40% of all Kia vehicles sold in the US.
“Assembling 2m vehicles in less than seven years is a remarkable achievement, and one that each of our team members can take a lot of pride in,” said Hyun-Jong Shin, president and CEO of KMMG. “The world-class quality that goes into every Sorento CUV and Optima mid-size sedan we build is a direct result of the hard work and commitment of our team members, and today we salute their commitment to excellence.”
KMMG represents an investment of more than $1.1 billion and supports 15,000 direct and indirect jobs in the region.
