Inspection Technologies says it has developed a mixed light inspection system that removes the need for low ambient lighting conditions when checking for surface defects in cast and forged parts using fluorescent dyes.
The system comprises of a specialised camera, driver electronics and a self-contained UV light source. It’s claimed this set-up allows the effective detection of fluorescence, even in environments with high levels of background illumination.
The company says the system will permanently store visual photographic records of all inspections, pass or fail, for compliance and 100% Quality Audit purposes. It also employs digital signal processing to provide a clearer difference image.
The user interface contains automatic defect detection software, which identifies and sizes areas of interest and alerts the user.
