The Tier 1 supplier Faurecia is building a new production facility in Blue Springs, Missouri. Costing $60m, it will be used to manufacture and assemble both door and instrument panels for vehicles.
"Faurecia is proud to open this new site and to provide new opportunities for local job seekers," commented Donald Hampton, President of Faurecia Interiors in North America. "The Kansas City metro and the Blue Springs area are known for being a source of excellence in American manufacturing and we're looking forward to building on that expertise and skill set as we continue to provide the very best to our customers."
According to a study carried out by the research group Brookings Institute, the Kansas City region is one of the most important areas for activity in the automotive industry across the US. Ford's assembly plant in Claycomo, Missouri, is used to assemble the F-150 and Transit models, while Ford's Fairfax plant currently houses production of the Chevrolet Malibu.
Faurecia expects to create 300 new jobs with the construction of the new facility.
