China – An agreement has been signed with city authorities to build the fourth production facility of Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile (DPCA), the first outside Wuhan. The plant will make Dongfeng Citroen, Dongfeng Peugeot and Fengshen-badged SUVs and MPVs.
DPCA’s existing three plants, which are operating on two shifts, have a total annual capacity of 750,000 units. The new Chengdu plant will have a capacity of 300,000 units per year, raising the total to around 1m. Construction work is scheduled to begin in the second half of this year, with the first vehicles rolling off the assembly lines in late 2016.
DPCA’s objective for 2014 is to sell more than 650,000 vehicles in China, with a goal of selling over 1.5m by 2020.
