UK – Supported by a grant from the UK Government’s Advanced Manufacturing and Supply Chain Initiative (AMSCI), the scheme will create a centre of excellence for niche manufacturing at Cosworth’s site in Northampton.
Cosworth says the programme will be “a key component” in its strategy to develop world-leading flexible manufacturing systems to deliver the next generation of automotive internal combustion engines.
The scheme will apply best-of-breed informatics systems from Flexeye, plus research from Cranfield University to address challenges in flexible manufacturing, intelligent quality assurance and supply chain management.
Hal Reisiger, CEO of Cosworth, said the centre of excellence will enable “cost-effective production of more advanced engine designs in smaller quantities”.
