The Robacta Drive TPS/I welding torch has received a number of improvements including increasing the dynamic of the drive unit to33m/s², which Fronius says is ten-times that of its predecessor. Available as either a gas- or water-cooled version, the welding torch can now be fitted to robots capable of supporting just 3kg and thanks to its three-phase stepper motor, offers a maintenance-free unit for smooth wire travel at a speed of up to 25m/min, claims the company. The speed is kept constant by an integrated rotary position encoder
Fronius engineers have adopted a modular approach to the new welding torch’s structure, that allows the hosepack and drive unit of the Robacta Drive TPS/I to be connected via a standardised connection with a union nut.
