AutoFormplus R2 is the second release of AutoFormplus, the software now featuring a redesigned architecture. When using elastic plastic shell elements and bending enhanced membrane elements, Autoform claims an average increase in return times of 30% and 12% respectively. Other improvements are the shared memory multiprocessing (SMP) system, which delivers deterministic numerical results independent of the number of computational cores or processors. On average, speed-up factors of 1.6 and 2.4 are achieved for respectively two and four threads. AutoFormplus R2 now offers accurate material modeling for stainless steel 1.4301, refi ned drawbead modelling, addendum profi le templates and an option for hidden internal cost data. Progress has also been made in springback compensation. As a result, users can implement more advanced compensation strategies to address these issues. Dr. Markus Thomma, Corporate Marketing Director of AutoForm Engineering, stated: “Running AutoFormplus R2 on a PC with a quad-core processor enables simulation of a B-pillar – including all operations and springback – in less than fi ve minutes. Even complex parts, such as a door inner, can be simulated in less than 150 minutes.- www.autoform.com
