China – The two companies have defined 21 key strategic areas with associated targets over the next ten years. This will include the expansion of Audi’s model line-up through local production at FAW VW; a dedicated business for mobility and digital services; and increased collaboration in financial services.
The expanded local production will include electrified vehicles. Over the next five years, Audi and FAW will launch five additional e-tron models, including purely battery-driven cars with ranges of over 500km. This year in China the German brand is already selling two electrified, full-size models, the locally produced A6 e-tron plug-in hybrid and the imported Q7 e-tron.
“China is the leading market worldwide for electric mobility. With our e-tron initiative, we want to create a compelling premium offer of products and services here,” said Dietmar Voggenreiter, Audi's board member for Sales and Marketing.
Audi CEO Ruper Stadler noted the 29 years of collaboration between the German company and FAW in developing the premium market in China and described the latest plan as “a strong roadmap for the coming decade”.
