Watch: Next-gen car body building

Episode-7Post-Thumbnail-600x400

Innovations in vehicle body and module architectures are enabling more sustainable production. Experts from REE Automotive, Magswitch and others discuss opportunities in the next AMS Livestream.

With OEMs increasing the mix of electrified and hybrid vehicles, manufacturing engineers and experts must consider the best way to optimise design and production of bodies, components and modules, especially with an eye on reducing emissions, energy and waste, and enabling the most flexible manufacturing and supply chain processes. This Livestream will focus on the materials, technology and processes to improve sustainability and modularity in the production of automotive body structures and major components.

Experts from carmakers, including EV vehicle and van producer REE Automotive, and technology specialists Magswitch, discuss different approaches to flexible and sustainable production of these structures, including the use of standardised platforms, micro-factories and digitalisation.

Industry leaders emphasise processes that reduce environmental impact, including material selection, automation and eliminating process steps and tooling.

This livestream covers:

  • Design-for-manufacturing innovations in body architecture and modules
  • Strategies for increasing flexibility and scalability in bodyshop and assembly, especially for electrified powertrains, battery and EVs
  • Sustainability first: implementing materials and processes that reduce emissions, energy and waste
  • Using automation and digitalisation to improve body and module production

Speakers

Peter Dow
VP of Engineering
REE Automotive

Dr. Peter Dow has worked in the industry for over 25 years, earning an MS in Industrial Engineering and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering.
