Standard stainless steel needles have a steep pressure restriction in the area where the needle joins the hub.
This design requires unnecessarily high pressure to generate flow, while high residual pressure in the needle when feed pressure is cut can cause product to leak from the needle tip.
Tapered dispensing needles from Fisnar have been designed to reduce this leakage, as they relieve the ramp-up in pressure normally required to overcome ‘drag’, or flow resistance, encountered when applying viscous liquids using parallel needles.
Installing the new needles can mean a reduction in required pressure and reduced product wastage. www.intertronics.co.uk
