Canada – Following the OEM’s selection of the facility to make its Edge utility vehicle, a C$700m ($621m) upgrade is underway to expand manufacturing capability. The cars made at Oakville will be exported to more than 100 countries.
By adding more than 1,000 hourly jobs, Ford will have increased the total workforce at Oakville to over 4,000 by the end of the year. In order to meet growing customer demand, 300 jobs were added in 2013, the year the C$700m investment was announced.
“To see the transformation of Oakville Assembly into a global facility is incredible,” commented Will Cowell, Oakville Assembly plant manager. “We're building on our strong team to support greater complexities in our systems, processes and technologies.”
