US - Jeff Moore has been named vice president, manufacturing, Americas and plant manager for the Volvo Car Charleston plant - the OEM's first car manufacturing facility in the country. He has 33 years of experience in automotive manufacturing operations, having recently served as senior vice president at Toyota Motor North America where he oversaw powertrain production at five different plants.

"Jeff has an accomplished career and is a hands-on leader who is passionate about operational excellence and continuous improvement," said Anders Gustafsson, senior vice president, Americas and president and CEO, Volvo Car USA. "We are thrilled to welcome him to the Volvo Car family as we prepare to officially open the Volvo Car Charleston Plant."

Construction of the plant began back in 2015. Charleston will be the sole production site for the new S60, which is set to start rolling off the lines in late 2018.

Ahead of the opening of its US plant, Volvo Cars has been recording positive sales figures. To keep up with demand, the company has announced that it is boosting output capacity of its XC40 at its plants in Europe and China.
