JLR Future-TypeUK – The company made the announcement at its inaugural Tech Fest focusing on the future of mobility, with CEO Ralf Speth saying it will be “embracing fully electric, plug-in hybrid and mild hybrid vehicles”. JLR’s first fully electric SUV, the I-PACE, will go on sale next year.

With the I-PACE, the OEM says that it “started with a clean sheet” to engineer a bespoke electric vehicle. Moving forward, JLR’s autonomous Future-Type concept is intended as “a vision for the car of 2040 and beyond” which “explores mobility for the connected world of tomorrow”. Meanwhile, the famous E-type will feature an electric powertrain for the first time, enabling it to go from 0-60mph in 5.5 seconds. The electrified version has been engineered by Jaguar Classic in Warwickshire, UK.

‘Technology with Heart’ is JLR’s theme at Tech Fest, which is taking place at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London. The public exhibition is open from September 8-10.
