Using the heat they produce can increase the efficiency of compressors to about 95%, claims Boge.

Modern water-cooled compressors typically integrate a heat recovery system into the cooling circuit, but there are a lot of older compressor stations that work without heat recovery, says the company. For these it has introduced its Duotherm system, which can be retro-fitted to both Boge systems and other makes, the company says.

The system is available in five power levels, from 7.5-110 kW, for integration into oil injection cooled screw compressors. The heat exchanger is connected to the oil system of both the compressor and the hot water or process water utility mains, and transfers the heat from compressed air production to the desired process - without any additional energy input, says Boge.
