Peugeot 2008 hits production milestone

14 January 2019 | Automotive Manufacturing Solutions

France – The one-millionth Peugeot 2008 rolled off production lines at the company’s Mulhouse plant in eastern France. Launched back in 2013, the SUV is now one of the most popular vehicles in Peugeot’s portfolio.

The Mulhouse plant was the first to start making the 2008. Around 780 units of the model are now made at the facility every day, with 193,000 units produced in 2018 alone. 62% of the components used in the 2008 are made at Mulhouse.

The SUV is also made at Groupe PSA’s plants in Porto Real, Brasil, in Wuhan, China, in Tehran, Iran and in Gurun, Malaysia. It is based on the PF1 platform, which is also used for the Peugeot 208, Citroen C3 Picasso and Opel Crossland X.

In May 2018, Groupe PSA revealed plans to boost its output of SUVs in Europe. It also said it was investing in its Luton plant in the UK ahead of the launch of the Opel/Vauxhall Vivaro.
