Novares opens Mioveni plant21 September 2017 | Automotive Manufacturing Solutions
Romania – Until recently known as Mecaplast-Key Plastics, the company said it has established itself in the country in order to be close to its main customer, Dacia. The factory near Piteşti is Novares’ first in the country.
According to Novares, the objective of the new facility is to “support the production of quality components and systems” for the Dacia Duster and Logan. Dacia will install engine covers under the body parts to help the reduction of CO2 emissions.
“I am pleased to see the Mioveni inauguration taking place after our new brand launch in the market,” commented Pierre Boulet, CEO of Novares. “We affirm our growth strategy and expansion ambition, because we believe global proximity is what our customers request – complete solutions for pragmatic service and more responsiveness.”
Mioveni is expected to make parts such as air filters and roof rails, similar to the company’s plant at Gebze, Turkey. Next year, the site will add a full painting line for roof bars and may expand its product range to interiors and car body trims. The workforce is set to increase to 80 from 40 by the end of this year, reaching 130 by 2018.
Novares specialises in the production of automotive components using plastic injection techniques, providing vehicle-makers and tier-one suppliers with seven different product types: engine components; e-powertrain components; bezels and clusters; air vents and deco trims; interior and car body trims; handles; and exterior paint and surfaces.
