Bosch breaks ground on Nanjing plant04 August 2017 | Automotive Manufacturing Solutions
China – Further extending its manufacturing capacity in China, Bosch is investing nearly €100m for a new brake component plant in the south-eastern city of Nanjing. Commencing in 2019, the 20,000 sq.m plant will produce the firm’s iBooster product, electromechanical brake booster used for electromobility and driver assistance systems.
“The new plant in Nanjing is a reaction to the increasing demand in China for solutions that enable automated and electric driving,” says Dr. Dirk Hoheisel, a member of the board of management of Robert Bosch GmbH. “It will allow us to offer our customers in China products and services that are tailored to the requirements of the local market.”
Since April 2017, Bosch has been manufacturing electronic components for automated driving and connected products at an automotive electronics location in Wujin. At the end of the year, a new facility in Wuhu will start production for the Car Multimedia division. Over the last five years, Bosch has directed more than €2.5bn to its Chinese locations.
Employing 59,000 staff, the China sites constitute Bosch’s largest workforce outside Germany.
