Henkel thermal interface materialsHenkel claims its thermal interface materials (TIMs) provide effective management of heat generated during charging and operation of the battery system. The company says that its Bergquist Gap Pad 1450 offers a solution to move heat away from Li-I cells and is suitable for fragile applications.

According to Henkel its Bergquist liquid gap filler TIMs have been developed for high-speed dispensing applications, making them suited to high-volume manufacturing applications. This range of materials can be used to manage the thermal load from multiple modules assembled into the battery pack, hood or chassis areas. The company notes its latest development in gap fillers is a silicone-free material with a thermal conductivity of 3.0 W/m-K. This developmental formulation is claimed to address the requirement to eliminate outgassing commonly associated with silicone-based TIMs.
