bw-00257webDesigned to heat up more rapidly, BorgWarner says its ceramic glow plugs (CGPs) provide a heat-up time of less than 2 seconds and achieve a maximum glow temperature of up to 1,250°C. The company notes that while comparable models utilise a heating element inside the glow pin that must heat up completely, its CGP`s glow pin glows only at the tip and surface, and features a closed-loop control for pre-heating, intermediate heating and post-heating.

BorgWarner says it also provides its glow plug control module, which supplies the CGP with the optimum effective voltage for the respective operating point, allowing the glow plug temperature to be controlled according to the operating state.

These CGPs and glow plug control module are being supplied for SsangYong’s new 1.6-litre and 2.2-litre DTX engines.
